Seychelles formally the Republic of Seychelles, is an archipelago nation of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, some 1,500 kilometers (930 mi) east of mainland Africa, northeast of the island of Madagascar. Seychelles is located in the Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar and about 1,600 km (1,000 mi) east of Kenya. Other nearby island countries and territories consist of Zanzibar to the west, Mauritius and Reunion to the south, Comoros and Mayetta to the southwest, and the Suva dives of the Maldives to the northeast. The number of islands in the archipelago is frequently given as 115 but the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles lists 155. Seychelles has the smallest population of any sovereign state of Africa. There are two coral smooth cays north of the granites: Denis, Bird. Capital and biggest city is Victoria, position of the Seychelles is 4°37′S, 55°27′E, the representative languages are English, French, Seychellois Creole. The country got self-government from the United Kingdom 29 June 1976, the Currency is Seychellois rupee (SCR), the Total Area is 451 km², and the predictable Population of 2005 is 80,699. The Natural assets of the country are fish, copra, cinnamon trees. The most important trading partners of the country are UK, France, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa (2004), the transportation consists of highways: total: 458 km; cemented: 440 km; unpaved: 18 km (2003). The main port and harbor is Victoria port, the number of airports are 15 as per records of 2007. .
